Displays a zest for his job unmatched by fellow Autobots. Loves the ocean and its creatures... unhappy when he returns to land and reverts to robot form. Loves the thrill of naval battle. Can go 120 knots, 4000-mile range. Has sonar, radar, and underwater and surface-to-air lasers, also used in robot mode. Wheels allow limited land travel. Not too strong or mobile as robot.

Robot Mode: Like many early G1 figures Seaspray is rather limited in terms of posability. He can move his arms at the shoulders, that's it. Still, he looks very much like he did in the cartoon and offers a decent amount of detailing despite his short stature. His feet might be a bit out of proportion when compared to the rest of him, but that's just a minor thing. So considering the time he was made, a pretty decent robot mode.

Alternate Mode: Seaspray's alternate mode is a hovercraft. Due to its small size there are limits, of course, as to the amount of detailing involved, but it looks pretty good. The rotors turn and the wheels below allow you to roll it across the floor. So all in all a decent, if unspectacular vehicle mode.

Remarks: Seaspray debuted in season 2 of the original Transformers cartoon and was, as far as I can remember, the very first Transformer with a sea-faring alternate mode. He has the distinction of being the only Autobot ever to become human (or rather a more-or-less human-looking alien) because of a magical fountain. He's also one of only a handful of Autobots to get speaking roles in both season 2 and season 3. Seaspray was later re-issued for Generation 2, but hasn't been used in the Transformers universe since.

As a toy Seaspray is okay, but nothing special. Like with many early G1 figures, though, you don't necessarily want him for the toy itself, but rather for the character it represents. And while Seaspray didn't feature as prominently as other Autobots, he was still a fun guy with a cool voice and so I got him for my collection. Not a must-have, but fun if you can pick him up for a decent price.
