MA-06 SPY SHOT 6

Series: Movie
Allegiance: Autobot
Categories: Real Gear
Year: 2007

Spy Shot 6 doesn't talk a lot, preferring to remain in camera mode as an observer in the background. It's probably from years of spying on the Decepticons. He's got a perfect memory, able to produce a description of anything he's ever seen or heard. He prefers not to fight, but when it comes down to it, he can fire focused beams of laser-intensity light through his lens.

Robot Mode: For some reason I can't quite put into words I really don't like Spy Shot's robot mode. Maybe it's the head, maybe it's the robotic claws for hands, I'm not sure. Posability is good and the camera lense for a torso doesn't look half-bad, either, but somehow the head-shoulder-arm section doesn't appeal to me at all. Maybe that's just me. Anyway, Spy Shot has the same problem most of the Real Gears have in that he doesn't have a weapon and no real hands. Apart from that, no real flaws. But I still don't like him.

Alternate Mode: Spy Shot 6 appears as a modern digital camera in his alt mode, complete with view screen on the back. It's just a sticker, of course, featuring the face of Cybertron Ransack. The camera looks solid and could fool you into thinking it real at first glance, at least if you're not looking at it from the front. The cartoony image on the screen would probably ruin the illusion.

Remarks: Generation 1 had a trio of Decepticons that combined into a camera. Now the Movie line has an Autobot that manages that all by his lonesome. Spy Shot does have some shades of Reflector, such as the whole camera-lens for a body thing, but overall I don't particularly like him as a figure. He's not bad, but doesn't appeal to me all that much, either. Let's call him a good average and leave it at that.

Rating: C+
