Land Military Team

Wreckage, Knock Out, Bonecrusher

Series: Armada
Allegiance: Mini-Con
Categories: Mini-Con
Year: 2002

Robot Modes: The three Minicons of the Land Military Team are very much defined by their weaponry. Bonecrusher (the black one) has a huge missile launcher in place of his right arm, Knock Out (the orange one) carries one on his shoulders, and Wreckage (the green one) has two missile launchers instead of arms (though he has hands sculpted into the sides of the launchers). Wreckage and Knock Out pull off the heavily armed look very well, only Bonecrusher is a bit hampered by the fact that his launcher is longer than his body, meaning he can't point his weapon straight down. It's not a big problem, but it makes him look a misproportioned.

In terms of detailing and posability all three are slightly above average for the Armada Minicons. They all have knee joints, elbow joints (except for Wreckage) and carry quite a bit of detailing. That of Bonecrusher is a bit swallowed up by his black paint, but it's there. So all in all pretty decent Minicrons. Not spectacular, but there's nothing wrong with them, either.

Vehicle Modes: The three members of the Land Military Team transform into, you guessed it, military land vehicles. Who'd have thought? All three become different kinds of artillery vehicles. What they have in common is that they all have missile launchers on top. Bonecrusher and Knock Out just the one, Wreckage has two. I honestly can't tell you whether the three vehicles are based on any existing military vehicles or just generic, and I'm too lazy to look it up. Bottom line, all three vehicles look pretty decent. Detailing and look is very good for their size class. No complaints.

Remarks: First off I want to thank my good friend Marc, aka Lucy, admin of NTF-Archive.de, who gave me these little guys as a present. Thanks again, Marc. Sorry it took me so long to get around to reviewing them, you know how it is.

I'm not generally a big fan of Minicons, they remind me too much of the horrid G1 Micromasters. Still, Armada produced a whole lot of Minicons and while most I own came with bigger figures, some of the teams also made their way into my possession. The Land Military Team is among the more generic teams and didn't play a big role in the Armada cartoon series. They did turn up in the Armada comic books, though, where they were instrumental in separating Megatron from the Star Saber Sword during one battle. These little robots aren't bad for Minicons, so while I won't go so far as to recommend them (I don't think I ever recommended Minicons), they're pretty nice.
